Shore excursions selections may be made starting April 22nd at Noon Eastern/11am Central/10 am Mountain/9am Pacific and elections close on at Midnight US Central Time on April 30th.
The below shore excursion offerings are sorted according to ports of call. Within each port, you will find a complete list of all tours offered in that location. At the top of each tour you will find information such as the duration, timing, activity level and whether the tour is included at no cost to you, indicated by $0 after the Price.
Some tours have a price associated with them, which means they are not included in your cruise fare. If you choose to participate in any of those tours, you will pay the cost associated with that tour through your shipboard account at the end of the cruise. While at a cost, it is important to note these tours have been discounted down to account for the fact that you are not participating in one of the zero cost included tours. Therefore, even though you are paying for a tour, you are still getting the same value as though you took an included tour.
Duplicate Tour Offerings
For many of the ports, you will find more than one departure time for some of the tours. The tour inclusions are identical for each instance, it is only the times they are offered which differ and the multiple offerings of the same tours is due to limited guide/bus capacity and/or tender capacity where at anchor. Therefore, if any tour is “sold out” for a particular time, please select a different departure time, if available.
How to make your selections
In the next section of this page, you will find an order form on which to make your tour selections for each port. Please note that even though it may be technically possible to participate in more than one tour on some days, only one tour selection is permitted per day.
We apologize for the inconvenience but in order to control quantities of tours booked, a new form must be submitted for each guest.
It is also important to note that each tour has a minimum and maximum number of participants. If we do not achieve the minimum number of participants for your chosen tour, you will be notified, and asked to make an alternate selection. Tours will be assigned on a first come/first serve basis. If we exceed the maximum on any given tour, you will be asked to make another selection.
We kindly ask you to choose carefully since due to the minimum/maximum requirements, it will most likely not be possible to change your tour selections. If you do change your mind in advance of the cruise, we will do our absolute best to try to accommodate you but cannot guarantee your change request will be granted. If you change your mind after boarding the cruise, it will be up to the ship shore excursion desk to make changes, if possible.
The actual shore excursion vouchers/tickets will be provided to you by the cruise line once on board.

Afterwards, you will be invited to hand-feed the newborn lambs (in season) and watch the farmer maneuver his flock with the help of his trusty sheepdog.
Re-join your motorcoach and return to Galway — capital city of County Galway — located on the northeastern corner of Galway Bay. The Corrib River runs through the city. They were the merchant families of Athy, Blake, Bodkin, Browne, Darcy, Deane, Font, French, Joyce, Kirwin, Lynch, Martyn, Morris and Skerrett. After boarding your comfortable coach it’s just a leisurely 45-minute drive to the heart of Derry. Also known as Londonderry, Northern Ireland’s second largest city lies tucked inside a 400-year-old wall, the best-preserved city fortifications in the Western world and the last to be built in Europe. Built between 1613 and 1619 to protect Derry from invasion, the walls rise to a height of 26 feet and, in places, stand 30 feet wide. In its entire history, the walls have never been breached, giving the city the nickname, “The Maiden City.” Today, with ‘the troubles’ over, Derry enjoys the freedom of a small, compact and developing city. Your guide will share his or her knowledge of the city with you as you make your way around each notable landmark. Arriving in the city, a stop will be made for you to view the exterior of the beautiful stone structure of St Columb’s Cathedral. This Gothic Cathedral, which was completed in 1633, has a fine spire, vivid stained-glass windows and a total of 13 bells. Among the sights is the Guildhall, a late Gothic-style building with stained glass windows illustrating the city’s history. Continuing, history takes center stage as you pass a former workhouse for the poor, a former barracks for the British army and a number of political murals painted by Republicans protesting British policies. You will also glimpse the old shipyard and embarkation point for Irish emigrants during the Great Famine. A stop will be made for an Irish Coffee in a local bar. Tour Description:
You’ll come ashore at the beautiful harbor of Tobermory, full of visiting yachts in the summer, and sheltered by the steep hills behind. This colorful town has fine stone houses in the main street, brightly painted offering a Continental atmosphere.
Your excursion itinerary will take you south from Tobermory along the coastal road which provides extensive views of the lovely coastline and across the water to the mountains of Morvern. The road is narrow and on several stretches, is single-track, as it passes through agricultural areas with their small neat farms and grazing cattle. Through the small community of Craignure, an important ferry connecting point to the port of Oban on the mainland of Scotland’s west coast, to arrive at Duart Castle – a 13th century fortress and home of the 28th Chief of the Clan Maclean and his family.
Standing proudly on a cliff-top at the end of the peninsula guarding the Sound of Mull, Duart enjoys one of the most spectacular and unique positions on the west coast of Scotland. For over 400 years this has been the base of the Clan Maclean’s formidable sea-borne power. Our visit will show us that Duart was originally a rectangular wall enclosing a courtyard. Later in the mid 17th century small vaulted cellars with a hall at first floor level and perhaps a small chamber above, were built within the courtyard. At the same time the defense to the gateway entrance to the courtyard was strengthened by a two story gatehouse. We see the principal parts of the castle, including the state rooms, and can even walk through the dungeons during our independent and leisurely exploration of Duart. We may decide to climb to the top of the keep from where it is easy to appreciate the strategic site of the castle. During our visit we also hear something of the ancient history of Duart and the Macleans who have continued to use the castle as their base since the earliest years. We then return towards Tobermory appreciating the magical island of Mull is one of those rare and fortunate places which seem untouched by the passage of time.

Tour Description:
As you come ashore at Ullapool you will see the town is an important fishing port, with freshly painted houses lining the sea front, their upper windows sharply gabled. They look down on the jumble of quays and slipways, cluttered with small boats and fishing gear. The town is also a popular holiday resort and the ferry terminus for boats to Stornoway.
The road out of Ullapool offers fine views of mountains and peaks, rising above a landscape of moors. You continue through the Inverpolly National Nature Reserve, a remote, lonely stretch of moorland dotted with lochs, burns and great red sandstone peaks. Continuing through Ledmore and then a photo stop with views of Ardvreck Castle. It is a jagged fang of a ruin, dating from 1490, three stories high, and standing on lovely Loch Assynt.
Your scenic tour continues along the side of Loch Assynt. A lonely and picturesque loch, situated in the heart of the wild, rocky Sutherland mountains, which are dominated to the east by Ben More Assynt, 3,273 feet, the highest peak in the county. The area is also known for rare plants and ferns.
Arrive into Lochinver – a delightful small resort on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Scotland, with heart-stopping views all round. It is one of the most charming of villages in the wild areas of the north-west Highlands, with a pier at the head of the small Loch Inver. Into the loch flows the River Inver, at the end of its short, but picturesque and partly wooded course from the western extremity of Loch Assynt. Lochinver is also well known for its fishing, being surrounded by a maze of numerous tiny lochans in all directions. You will have time to wander at leisure around this tranquil area, before rejoining the coach for the return drive to Ullapool.

It is time to make your way to Maeshowe, a Neolithic chambered tomb covered by a carpet of grass. At more than 5,000 years old, it is considered one of the finest prehistoric works of architecture. Inside is the fascinating runic graffiti, left in the 12th century by the Viking warriors who used it as a shelter. With 30 inscriptions, Maeshowe boasts the largest collection in Europe.
Following your visit you will depart for the Ring of Brodgar. En route you will pass by the Standing Stones of Stennes. Dating back more than 5,000 years, this archaeological treasure is one of the oldest stone circles in Great Britain. The Ring of Brodgar is the third largest monolithic stone circle in the British Isles. Probably an important burial place and religious site, archaeological studies suggest that it was built before the more famous circle of Stonehenge.
