Some parts of the city still retain their old-world charm, including the historic clock tower and colonial buildings. There are many places of interest, such as the Pettah bazaar, several churches, a Hindu and a Buddhist temple, residential areas with stately homes, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Independence Square, Nelum Pokuna theater, Town Hall/Victoria Park, Old Parliament, and the Galle Face Greens.

Folllowing breakfast, we check out and transfer to Bentota to visit the Geoffery Bawa Lunuganga Estate. Nestled near Bentota, Lunuganga Estate was the enchanting country home of Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka’s legendary architect and the pioneer of tropical modernism. This serene property, surrounded by lush gardens, reflects Bawa’s visionary blend of art, architecture, and nature. Each corner of the estate tells a story, with hidden sculptures, breathtaking views of Dedduwa Lake, and intricately landscaped spaces. Visitors can immerse themselves in Bawa’s world, exploring the estate’s elegant interiors and tranquil gardens that exude timeless charm and creativity. A visit to Lunuganga is a journey into the heart of Sri Lankan design heritage.
We’ll also enjoy lunch at the estate before heading off to a turtle hatchery in Kosgoda. The Turtle Farm is a great place to see turtles of different ages. It’s run by the Wildlife Protection Society of Sri Lanka. This hatchery protects several species of turtles, especially the endangered hawksbill. The most vulnerable of all are their eggs, which are left uncovered on beaches all around the coast. However, the goodwill of Kosgoda’s fishermen, who bring these eggs to the hatchery for free, has led to the hatching of around 100,000 young turtles in only two years since the hatchery opened.
After we’re off to Balapitiya for a boat ride to discover the serene waters of the Madu River through the stunning mangroves. You’ll also get the opportunity to visit a Temple and a Cinnamon Island. During the trip, you’ll be able to witness the daily life of the villagers and appreciate the breathtaking beauty of nature all around you.
At the end of the day we arrive to our hotel for check-in and dinner.

As you wander through its winding lanes, you’ll come across stylish cafes, quirky boutiques, and beautifully restored hotels owned by local and foreign artists, writers, photographers, and designers.

It is located at Gotuwala, between the two railway stations of Ella and Demodara, and stands at an impressive height of 99.6 feet above sea level. This massive bridge, which is built entirely of solid rocks, bricks, and cement, is often referred to as ‘The Bridge in the Sky’ due to its sheer height. Notably, it was built without using any steel.
Following lunch at EKHO Ella, we proceed to Nuwara Eliya, which is Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort because of its invigorating mountain climate and scenery. Upon arrival we check in to The Golden Ridge Hotel for dinner and a restful night’s sleep.

We depart early this morning with a packed breakfast. We’re off to Horton Plains National Park.
Horton Plains National Park (“Maha-Eliya” in Sinhala) is a national park covered by mountain grassland and cloud forest in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. It lies at a height of more than 2,000 m (over 6500 ft.) and its altitude means that it has a much cooler and windier climate than the lowlands of Sri Lanka, with a mean annual temperature of 16 °C (60.8 °F) rather than the 26 °C (78 °F)of the coasts. The park is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. Three of the island’s largest rivers – the Mahawali, Kelani and Walawe originate from the Horton Plains. The trek to the World’s End and Baker’s fall are among the attractions of the park.
After we visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, where the best tea in the World is produced. Here you could observe all about the process of manufacturing tea. You can also see how tea is graded. Taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory.

After breakfast, we transfer to the Nanu Oya Railway Station where we board the train to Kandy.
Know as one of the most scenic journeys in Sri Lanka. It typically takes around 3 hours and 55 minutes covering approximately 95 kilometers (59 miles), passing through lush tea plantations, misty mountains, and charming villages. Travelers often highlight the breathtaking views and the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Sri Lanka’s hill country. The train itself is a mix of modern and traditional, offering both comfort and a touch of nostalgia.
Upon arrival we have lunch at Grand Serendib in Kandy, before embarking on a tour of Kandy.
Kandy city, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka’s kings and a UNESCO World Heritage site is home to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, an important symbol of Buddhist culture, faith, and history. We’ll explore the city by driving around the beautiful Kandy Lake, which was built by the last Sinhala king, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, in 1798. While there, we’ll visit the local town and explore The Bazaar, an arts and crafts center, a gem museum, and a lapidary. Kandy is a lively and vibrant city.
We’ll of course visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic which stands majestically as a symbol of culture, faith and history in the Buddhist belief. With a history that goes back to the 16th Century, to the time of King Wimaladharmasuriya 1, the structure seen today was built by King Narensdrasinghe (1707 AD). The tooth was brought to Sri Lanka in the 4th Century A.D., hidden in a princess’ hair. Since then, it has changed homes several times and was relocated to Kandy in 1590 where it has stayed to this day. Beautiful paintings and carvings, mainly from the Kandyan era, the golden Paththirippuwa, a library, the Royal Palace and many more edifices present much to see and experience. Here you’ll witness a cultural show featuring the traditional Sri Lankan dancing in many different acts where the show ends with some of the Performers Walk on the fire and make the final act using fire.
Attention – Dress code applied (Please cover your shoulders and knees when you visit the temples).

Additionally, there will be a cookery demonstration where you can witness how to use these spices in your daily life and enjoy a cup of spice tea. As a bonus, a free massage will be offered during your visit.
We’ll also enjoy lunch at the spice garden before we depart for a visit to Nalanda Gedige, which is a curious hybrid of Buddhist and Hindu architecture. This ancient complete stone built Hindu Temple has been constructed during a period of great turmoil on the island, with South Indian kings establishing themselves in the wake of the decline of the Sinhalese monarchy.

It is the pride of Sri Lanka and often referred by many as the ‘Eighth wonder of the world’. A visit to Sigiriya Rock Fortress not only reveals ruins & frescoes but vestiges of one of the greatest planned cities in Asia.
Climbing Sigiriya Rock Fortress is a memorable adventure that takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and involves over 1,200 steps. The journey begins at the Boulder Gardens and ascends through the Terraced Gardens, Mirror Wall, and Sigiriya Frescoes. The most iconic part is the Lion Staircase, leading to the Sky Palace at the summit. The climb offers stunning views, historical landmarks, and the ruins of an ancient palace. It’s a moderately difficult climb, but the views make it a rewarding experience for visitors. After we head for lunch at Cinnamon Lodge in Habarana.

Awake to another delicious breakfast at the hotel before departing for Mihintale.
12 Kilometers East of Anuradhapura is the place where teachings of Buddhism were first introduced to the people of Sri Lanka, Mihintale. At that time the ruler King Devanampiyatissa built a complete monastery complex in Mihintale with hospitals, ponds, stupas and many more facilities which some of them could be still seen as ruins while climbing to the summit. On the highest platform is the Mihintale Maha Seya Dagaba, one of the first stupas in the island which according to the legend enshrined hairs of the Buddha. This majestic white stupa, which lay in ruins was completely restored.
