Some of you have already had the pleasure of traveling with Jeremy Brooks, Brand g’s newest reservations agent and trip host (and his fabulous husband, Randy). He’s incredibly sweet, adorable, and a wonderful addition to the Brand g family. He was hesitant to do this interview because he knew I (Eric, the editor of this blog) would try to embarrass him, which is, of course, my primary goal.
So, let’s begin!
- Where did you grow up?
Inside of a saguaro in Phoenix, AZ. Don’t tell my Mom I called her a cactus.
- When did you know you were gay?
I sincerely thought I could be bi-sexual until around 23. That’s about the time I realized I could live without one, but not the other.
(Editor’s Note: The photo below should have given him a hint.)
- How many boyfriends have you had, and do you have compromising photos?
No “boyfriends” really. I had some “experiences” for sure, but never dated a guy before Randy. So, you know, all this is HIS FAULT.
- What is the stupidest/most embarrassing job you ever had?
Does this interview count? (The editor is not amused.) Haha. I would say I didn’t feel too great about myself stocking frozen food overnight at Walmart. I did, however, meet an amazing girl there who helped me start to come out of my little closet and feel comfortable being me. Thanks Erika!
- What’s so great about living in Denver?
It has everything besides the ocean. The old, the new, the dive-y, the fancy… and 4 seasons! Mountains, Redrocks concerts, lakes, rivers, and all the great food and bike paths I could ever ask for.
- Tell us about your fabulous husband, Randy.
The name says it all! Jk. He’s amazing and 100% the reason I’m here with Brand g. I’ve been telling people he did all the leg work to get us here with his super special social skills, which allowed me the opportunity to “get in front of the Brand g guests” and show off my skills. (*wink.)
- How did you come to Brand g?
Randy knew Jeff and Brian from the RSVP days and kept bugging them to use us as trip hosts with Brand g. Eventually they caved, and in 2021 we did our first trip with Brand g. Randy hosted and I was his side piece.
- Where did you work before Brand g?
I came to Brand g from a Colorado-based ski and snowboard rental and retailer, Christy Sports. I worked in their main distribution center for almost 10 years supervising distribution and managing their patio furniture inventory. It’s hard to sell a ski in July and who doesn’t love to apres?
- What are your duties at Brand g?
Customer service (*wink). My title is “Reservationist”. Currently, I’m answering phones, responding to emails, collecting passenger information, and of course creating and managing reservations. If you want my number, it’s 952-405-9309. I really try to give good phone. Take me for a spin sometime.
- What’s your favorite part of your job?
Easy! The Brand g guests. I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to be surrounded by a wealth of successful LGBT+ travelers with loads of life experience.
- What’s been your favorite Brand g trip so far?
The Amazon River Cruise and Machu Picchu Discovery was nothing short of a dream come true. As a child, I wanted an Amazon themed bedroom. Waking up on the Amazon River and exploring the rainforest brought tears to my eyes as my inner child exploded with joy.
- What was your most embarrassing Brand g moment so far?
I’m all for laughing at my own stupidity. I don’t think I’ve had any embarrassing moments with Brand g yet, probably because my Mom hasn’t been on any of the trips. I’m sure that day will come eventually *sigh.
- What is your favorite travel destination?
The one I haven’t been to yet! Kidding. There’s a place I’ve been to about a dozen times, and I feel complete every time I go there. Embedded in a canyon separating the White Mountain Apache and San Carlos Indian Reservations in Eastern Arizona, rests a campground on the bank of the Black River. It’s where my dad taught me how to fish and where I learned the few masculinities I now possess. If heaven were a place on Earth…
- What would you be if you could be anything?
A professional puppy petter.
- What is your greatest extravagance?
Probably my synthesizers and music studio setup. I think it’s reasonable, but Randy said we could host a U2 concert, so I may be slightly delusional about it.
- What is your greatest regret?
No regrets. All of the ups and downs led me here and I couldn’t be happier or more grateful. Oh wait… not running from the cops that one time. I regret that.
- What one thing would you want people to know about you?
Don’t hate me, but I’ve recently gotten into drum and bass and dubstep style bass music. MYTHM, Of the Trees, illoh …
(Editor: Does anyone know who the hell he’s talking about?)
